Our Story

The Alma St. John is a family owned and operated property in Cruz Bay that offers elevated guest accommodations. At the helm is Kim Lyons, a born and raised St. Johnian whose roots on island span more than seven generations. Kim and family aim to create an experience guided by authenticity and tradition. Visitors will be cared for by locals who are proud of their heritage and who have a deep knowledge of the land, its people and culture. Named as an homage to the founder's grandmother, Alma Wesselhoft, the family matriarch and a community leader who embodied the warm and distinct generosity that St. John has become known for.

As a guest at The Alma, you'll be checked in by one of Alma's grandkids, you may be taxied to the beach by one of her ten children, or perhaps you'll enjoy a meal cooked by one of her Sunday school students. Regardless of the St. John adventure you seek, you can rest assured knowing that you're in good hands.

The word "Alma" means soul. In a busy tourist season, we at the Alma seek to revive the type of hospitality that is rooted in legacy.
